‘Trade Exports and Essentials’ Event Set for March 13

Becoming an exporter might seem like an impossible step for small businesses, but it isn’t. There can be major rewards for companies that are able to leap into that world.

If you’re interested in becoming active in international markets, you should check out “Trade Exports and Essentials,” an event scheduled for 7:30 to 10 a.m. March 13 at the Greater Kansas City Chamber’s Board Room in Union Station. Admission costs $12, and attendees must register beforehand at this website.

Two local companies—SCD Probiotics and Held & Associates Inc.—will talk about their experiences with exporting. Mark I. Klein, regional director of the Export-Import Bank, will be the featured speaker. You can also meet representatives from local, state and federal agencies that can connect with you resources to get started exporting or up your game if you’re already doing so.

“Trade and Export Essentials” is being sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Commercial Service, in collaboration with World Trade Center Kansas City.

“Ninety-five percent of the world’s buyers live outside the United States, and it is time for U.S. small businesses to step up their game and to learn how to export because small businesses in other countries are not waiting, and exports are a critical component for the U.S. to remain a competitive world financial power,” said Pat Brown-Dixon, the director of the SBA’s Region VII, which includes Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska.
