Mid-America Gay & Lesbian Chamber Marks 3 Years of Helping Local Business

The Mid-America Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its third anniversary of building up the region’s LGBT-owned businesses.

maglccThe chamber has planned a celebration from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at Pennway Place at Studio Dan Meiners, 2500 W. Pennway in Kansas City, Mo. Dan Nilsen, MAGLCC’s board president and a driving force in the group’s creation, will speak, as will former Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes.

MAGLCC has nearly 270 member organizations, including both LGBT-owned small businesses and larger LGBT-friendly corporations. It’s one of 52 chambers affiliated with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. The chamber offers a range of services, including help for businesses seeking to become certified as LGBT-owned companies, and it hosts several popular events, including the annual Business Equality Conference.
