Lawrence’s PROSOCO Lands on Industry Top 10 List

PROSOCO, a developer of products for the construction industry, has made the Top 10 Green Products list for 2015 as judged by BuildingGreen, publishers of Environmental Building News.

PROSOCO’s R-Guard Fluid-Applied Cat 5 Barrier System was celebrated by BuildingGreen for helping to “make fundamental transformations to ‘business as usual’ in the design and construction industry.”

The product has been used in such energy-efficient projects as the Bullitt Center commercial office building in Seattle, Wash.

“To appear on BuildingGreen’s Top 10 list is one of the most prestigious honors that PROSOCO has received in my tenure here, and one that we’re extremely proud of,” said Dwayne Fuhlhage, PROSOCO’s sustainability and environment director, in a release. “We at PROSOCO have been privileged to collaborate with the best design, engineering and construction firms in the world. I’m excited to see high-performance designs, durable assemblies and Net Zero Energy buildings moving to the mainstream.”

Now in its 13th year, BuildingGreen’s Top 10 Green Products list is decided by a panel of BuildingGreen editors from hundreds of applicants across numerous sectors of the green building products industry.

Here is BuildingGreen’s affirmative assessment of PROSOCO’s Fluid-Applied Cat 5 Barrier System:

“Liquid-applied air barriers have emerged as a high-performance alternative to sheet goods, and PROSOCO’s Cat 5 system represents one of the best in the class for a variety of reasons. The parts of the system (air barrier, flashing and two filler products) are all based on the same high-performance ‘hybrid’ polymer chemistry, which has no solvents or isocyanates, and the company has improved on the basics by removing phthalate plasticizers—a move that makes the materials eligible for use on Living Building Challenge projects.”
