KC Music’s Grand Opening to Feature Rocker Todd Rundgren

KC Music, a full-service music store, will hold its grand opening from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at 6506 N.W. Prairie View Road in Kansas City North—along with a scheduled appearance by rock legend Todd Rundgren.

The event will include prizes, giveaways, a silent charity auction and the appearance from Rundgren, who will perform as a member of Ringo Starr’s All-Star Band that evening at Starlight Theatre. (The exact time of Rundgren’s appearance at the store hasn’t been scheduled; call (816) 505-5005 on the day of the event for more information.)

Several local bands will also be playing music throughout the day inside the store. The lineup includes Jump 5, the Baha Men, His Feminine Hips, Uncountable Kings, Red Velvet Crush, the Brian Ruskin Group, Jericka & Johnny and Lonesome Hank & The Heartaches.

KC Music’s 1,800-square-foot showroom and retail space incorporates a permanent stage, a sound system and individual lesson rooms. Co-owned by Rock U and School of Rock founder Mark Ballard, the business also offers professional repair of musical instruments and music gear.

The grand opening’s silent auction will include musical instruments and many items autographed by Rundgren. Funds raised will benefit the Spirit of Harmony Foundation, founded by Rundgren to help children develop with the support of music and music education.
