Honor Capital’s James Allen Jr. to Receive White House Award

James S. Allen Jr., U.S. Navy veteran and co-founder of Honor Capital LLC in Kansas City, will receive the Veteran Entrepreneur-Champions of Change Award on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the White House.

Allen will be recognized in a ceremony with other Champions of Change veterans who continue to serve America with their flourishing small businesses, nonprofit organizations and other activities that create jobs, encourage economic growth and support their communities.

Allen has founded successful startups in hospitality, investment banking, real estate development and law, including the National Golf Club of Kansas City, Stern Brothers & Co. and Gilmore & Bell.

The White House is paying tribute to Allen for his business career and work with Honor Capital, which produces financial solutions for post-9/11 veterans wanting to start small businesses. Allen’s Honor Capital co-founders are Marc Esposito, a West Point graduate and decorated medical evacuation Army helicopter pilot, who flew more than 400 missions in Afghanistan; and Allen’s son Jamie, a graduate of Annapolis and a former Navy officer who was with an Army cavalry unit during the Iraq Surge.

Wednesday’s awards ceremony will be attended by Jill Biden, wife of the vice president, and ABC-TV “Shark Tank” co-hosts Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec. The event will be live-streamed at 12 p.m. Central time at whitehouse.gov/live.
