Entrepreneurial environment is just right for Stephanie Isaacson.
Stephanie Isaacson’s company is focused on the environment, and she is finding the entrepreneurial environment to her liking.
Isaacson founded New Horizons Enterprises (Thinking Bigger Business cover story, June 2011) in 2007 to provide innovative solutions to environmental problems. Just four years later, the company has been named Small Business of the Year by the Kansas City Kansas Area Chamber of Commerce. New Horizons provides environmental management and contracting services—from consulting to remediation—throughout the United States.
At its annual awards luncheon last week, the KCK Chamber also announced Kansas City Testing and Engineering had been selected for the New Small Business of the Year award. Kansas City Testing and Engineering offers construction engineering and testing, geotechnical engineering, drilling and environmental consulting services to a wide range of federal and state governments, local municipalities and private sector clients.
Other finalists for the small business awards were: KC Blueprint and Planroom, Painted Hills Golf Course, Alta Bridal, H-R Haven, Sacred Heart Home Health Care and Wine Barn Winery and Vineyard.
In addition to honoring the Small Business of the Year and New Small Business of the Year, the KCK Chamber and Wyandotte Economic Development Council awarded the first-ever Small Business Economic Development Awards for Capital Investment/Expansion and Innovation. The law firm of McAnany Van Cleave and Phillips and Sealy Mattress received awards for Capital Investment/Expansion, and Go Green Carpet Recycling received the Innovation Award.
